How to use this tool: We've started you out with a portfolio that mirrors the weightings of each sector in the S&P 500 as of 1/31/02. Dial in an allocation using the "portfolio graphic equalizer" at the bottom of the page and we'll show you its performance and volatility since the inception of the funds of December 22, 1998. When you use the sliders to add other SPDR types, the program will adjust automatically so that your overall allocation never exceeds 100%.

Return and volatility in this tool are, respectively: overall returns weighted by the allocation of each category and volatility is the standard deviation using rolling 6-month returns.
